County Home Prices up 14 straight months

S&P/Case-Shiller home price index indicated yet another month of home price increases for San Diego County.  That's 14 straight months of price increases!  San Diego County the second highest annual price increase of the 20 metro areas surveyed, with another California City - San Francisco taking the top spot.

From June 2009 to June 2010 we had an 11.2 percent price gain in San Diego County, but North County Coastal homes we up 22.3%. 

For those of you who have been sitting on the fence 14 straight months of home appreciation is a trend which might signal it's time to buy...  FYI 30 year fixed rate mortgages are also at record lows, 4% as of today.

Marriott Residence Inn San Marcos

Construction restarted

Some good news for the construction industry here in San Marcos... The 112 room Marriott Residence Inn project at the corner of Las Posas Road and Los Vallecitos Boulevard (across the street from George Burgers) resumed building this week. I think they even took down the sign saying the project would be finished by the summer of 2009!

For those that are not from this area, the Marriott has had a sign up for over a year announcing that this project would be completed by the summer of 2009; yet, construction was halted over a year ago and it didn't look like it was going to get started anytime soon.

Home Buyer Tax Credit extended

There was a bit of good news for the real estate industry and "First Time Buyer" today...

Congress has extended AND expanded the homebuyer tax credit! Both the House and Senate have passed an unemployment insurance bill which included an amendment that exapnds and extends the First Time Buyer Tax Credit. This bill should be on the Presidents desk waiting for his signature in the next day or two. Below I have outlined the features and modifications to the current Home Buyer Tax Credit which expires on November 30th, 2009.

Desalination Plant gets approved

It took 11 years for the California State government and Coastal Commission to finally wake up to the fact that we need to harvest fresh water from the Ocean... Here's a little background. Over the last three years California has been in a drought, which is not uncommon for the state of California. Southern California imports a large percentage of the water it uses from Northern California and the Colorado River. In addition, during the Clinton Administration there was a large push in removing dams on the various rivers through out California which used to capture natural flow of water and was used for various municipal water districts.

New and Improved!

Anyone who has checked out this blog has noticed I have not been blogging much for quite a while... Well, the reason is I have been working on a major update of this site...

About a year ago Morgan Carey with Real Estate Webmasters approached me about updating my website. (I have been a client of Real Estate Webmasters since 2005 and they are the one's who built my custom site when I moved NCLH off of the Point 2 Agent platform back in 2005. 

Anyway, Morgan pointed out that from 2005 to 2009 there have been a ton of technological advances in the industry and I should be utilizing them; so, after kicking around the idea for several months (and analyzing what the costs would be to update my old site with the new features I wanted)

Paramount Condos Escondido

Paramount will NOT have 4 bedroom condos

Escondido CA - D.R. Horton, the developer of the Paramount Condominimum Complex at 501 and 511 N. Escondido Blvd.,  bowed to pressure from the Escondido City council and announced on Friday that all of the condo's will be designed as three-bedroom units with a Den or a Loft. In addition, the developer will add language to the homeowners association's rules and regulations that will not allow the owners to convert the loft or den into an additional bedroom.

San Marcos school district sets attendance lines

SAN MARCOS -- San Marcos Unified School District trustees on Wednesday night approved the redrawing of school boundaries.  This will establish which neighborhoods would be attending the district's 11 elementary schools.

Joli Leichtag Elementary School

The new school is a $21 million, 52,335-square-foot elementary school which will be located on 22-acres at the corner of Oleander and Mimosa avenues (on the border of Vista and San Marcos).  It has been named the Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School  in recognition of a $6 million endowment the San Marcos School district recently received from the Leichtag Family Foundation.

Escondido Bans Yard Parking

On March 8th, a new law will go into effect in the city of Escondido that will fine Car owners who park their vehicles in their front yards.  The fine will be for $40 and if a repeat offender gets 3 tickets in 12 months they will be charged with a misdemeanor!  Here is my suggestion for repeat offenders: Absolutely NO Yard Parking!
